White Christmas Shop Announcement

Popping in to say
I have opened
up as a White Christmas shop.

I confess,
I don't POP quite as quickly as I use to,
as the shop has been reopened since last month.

I hope that this post finds all of my creative friends
doing whatever makes you happiest!

Send A Smile 4 Kids - day 5 of 5 share

Whether I am creating cards to give
or Christmas ornaments for my Etsy shop,
the design process is usually the most time consuming.

That's why it makes sense to tweak a design just enough to make 2 or more unique cards.
That's what I did with the hot air balloons and sweet foxes above.
The first versions of each have been recreated a second time as shaker cards.
(hot air balloon die: Brenda Walton/Sizzix; fox stamps: lawn fawn)

I am working on my coloring skills,
still trying out markers, pencils, watercolors, inks for stamping, papers...
There is so much more to it than I thought.

They say practice makes perfect.
I am not hoping for perfect,
I just do not want to cringe when I look at a finished image.
(the underwater stamps are also by lawn fawn,
the seaweed dies are actually a floral die set I purchased from

Thanks for visiting me this week as I shared my first crafting love,
card (tags too) making.

Send A Smile 4 Kids - day 4 of 5 share

Just a few cards to share today.
The papers and images used above are from Anna Griffin.

These little owls are just the cutest!

A little note about the dies used on these cards.
I have been hearing about Ali Express for a while now,
which is a website where you can purchase direct from vendors in China.
They sell a lot of different things,
but I was only interested in the dies.
The prices are unbelievable,
however, most vendors do not take PayPal,
and I am not comfortable providing my credit card info to any overseas vendors.

I searched "scrapbook dies" on Ebay
and was able to find all of the dies I was interested in.
They are probably the same vendors,
but I could use PayPal.
The prices were a bit higher,
but still an amazing deal.
The die sets I used here,
the dream catcher, the owls, and the stitched frame
(Happy Birthday is by Martha Stewart),
could not have cost more that $6-$7 shipped.

It's worth a look if you share my die cutting obsession.

Send A Smile 4 Kids - day 3 of 5 share

Today's cards were created for tween and teen girls,
using papers from Crate Paper and Maggie Holmes.
Each has a decorated paper clip attached,
which can be removed and used as a bookmark.

for details on how you can help.

Happy halfway to Saturday!

Send A Smile 4 Kids - day 2 of 5 share

On their blog,
posted a reminder that children's hospitals serve patients up to the age of 19,
and they are looking for more older teenager,
and more boy cards.

These are a few of my contributions which answer that call.

The papers used in the first photo are probably 10 years old.
I made cards for my sons when they were in high school using this collection.
Now, this is why I am a pack rat,
sometimes I really can find a use for those things I hold onto.

As for the second set of cards,
I am so enchanted by hot air balloons.
I love to admire them in flight,
with my feet firmly planted on the ground.
Later in the week, I will share cards made with a new hot air balloon die purchase.

Thanks for popping in!

Send A Smile 4 Kids - day 1 of 5 shares

I just sent off my first box of cards to
Send A Smile 4 Kids.
The cards are distributed to children's hospitals across the country,
for parents, staff and even the children
to give to one another to brighten their day.

I have been building my stash of youthful, cheery designer papers and embellishments.
I have even purchased some scrapbook collections to work with.
(This collection is by My Mind's Eye, purchased from
Believe it or not,
working from one collection, however well coordinated and beautiful,
is challenging to me.
It is a change from my usual grab and go where the creative spirit takes me,
but challenges are good.

I will be sharing my first donation all this week.
